Mark Holder arrived in South Africa in 1999 to take over the running of the then Dullstroom Bird of Prey Centre, which was the located at the Owl And Oak Trading Post some 10km north of Dullstroom. He managed it for six months before he took over ownership. With its growth over the next couple of years he quickly realised that he was going to need regular help. New staff members were recruited in from the UK and South Africa, but still the centre struggled for similar expertise in Birds of Prey. In 2004 Mark Bett visited South Africa after numerous phone calls with a plan in mind. There after Mark Holder offered Mark Bett a partnership in the centre. Mark Bett didn't need to be asked twice and returned to South Africa later that year to take up the offer. Things then moved very quickly, and the two Mark's moved the centre to Mark Holders farm just outside of Dullstroom, and the rest is history as they say.
